SANDY, Utah — Utah Royals FC conceded a late match-winner Friday night in a 2-1 loss to NWSL newcomers Boston Legacy FC.
Ana Tejada was suspended from the match due to yellow-card accumulation for Utah (12-8-3, 39 points), which saw Mina Tanaka record her 50th appearance with Royalty and Kate Del Fava surpass 7,200 consecutive minutes played for the second-longest streak in league history behind Kaleigh Kurtz’s active streak.
Aissata Traoré struck first for Boston, giving the Legacy a 1-0 lead with a rebound conversion in the 11th minute.
Kiana Palacios equalized less than six minutes later, running on to the end of Mandy McGlynn’s boot from the top of her penalty box before finishing past three defenders with an angled right-footed shot en route to the 1-1 halftime draw.
But Aleigh Gambone found the winner in the 86th minute, lifting Boston (6-12-5, 23 points) to its first win in six matches.
