Real Monarchs wrapped up the 2025 regular season with a 4-1 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2, seizing the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference for the club’s first-ever MLS NEXT Pro Playoff appearance.
Jesus Barea scored a brace for the second-straight match, his 12th and 13th of his rookie campaign. Griffin Dillon had a goal and an assist, and Ari Piol also scored for the Monarchs.
The stage is set for the Pick-Your-Opponent opening round, where the top four seeds in each conference will select their quarterfinal opponent. In the West, St. Louis CITY2 will pick first, followed by San Jose’s The Town FC and Colorado Rapids 2 (here’s a look at how it worked last year).
Real Monarchs (13-7-8, 51 points) will open the postseason with the last remaining pick among fifth-seeded Minnesota 2, Dallas’ North Texas SC, Vancouver and LA’s Ventura County FC.
