Real Salt Lake adds Australian U-23 attacker Lachlan Brook from A-League's Wanderers
RSL has signed Western Sydney Wanderers attacker Lachlan Brook to an MLS contract through the end of the 2025 season, with club options for both 2026 and 2027, per a team release.
Real Salt Lake’s front-office isn’t taking a break during all-star week.
The club has signed Western Sydney Wanderers attacker Lachlan Brook to an MLS contract through the end of the 2025 season, with club options for both 2026 and 2027, per a team release.
“Choosing to come to Real Salt Lake was a no-brainer for me,” said Brook, who will wear the No. 17 shirt in Claret-and-Cobalt. “Major League Soccer is a league which is growing internationally in its profile and RSL is a club where I know I’ll be able to further develop my game.
“After speaking with Pablo, it is clear the culture they’ve set at the club, and the environment provides a place in which I expect to strive. I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to take this next step in my career. I cannot wait to get started and play in front of the amazing fans at America First Field.”
Brook, 23, comes to RSL after a highly decorated youth career in his native Australia. The native of Gawler, South Australia made his professional debut in 2017 for Adelaide United and has experience with Brentford in the EFL Championship before signing most recently with Wanderers.
A versatile left-footed winger who has played mostly on the right side but can slot into any of the four attacking positions in Salt Lake’s current setup, Brook scored 14 goals with two assists in 25 appearances during the 2023-24 A-League campaign with Wanderers, becoming the first player in the club’s modern era to score five goals in a single tournament match during a 6-1 win over Floreat Athena in Australia Cup play.
“We are excited to bring Lachlan aboard this summer,” said RSL Chief Soccer Officer Kurt Schmid, noting that one or two additional moves following the signings of both Brook and forward Benji Michel during this window remain possible. “He’s a technical and versatile attacker with quick feet. He’s coming off a good season in Australia with 9 goals and multiple assists, and will look to carry that momentum into MLS. His quickness, technique, and his timing of arriving in the box at the right time should allow him to mesh well with all of our dynamic attacking options.”
Terms of the deal were not immediately available. But Brook was not expected to occupy a Designated Player for RSL after signing a two-year deal with Western Sydney last June.
He’ll be available for the club upon receipt of his international transfer certificate and P-1 work visa.
