RSL loans D/M Kevon Lambert, DF Delentz Pierre to USL's San Antonio, Colorado Springs
The Real Salt Lake duo will call the USL Championship home for the 2024 season via a loan agreement, the team announced Monday.
Real Salt Lake defender/midfielder Kevon Lambert and homegrown defender Delentz Pierre are on the move — for a year.
Lambert, the 26-year-old Jamaican international center back who has also played holding midfield since joining RSL last August, returns to the league where he starred witih Phoenixing Rising after making two MLS regular season appearances.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pound center back spent seven seasons in Phoenix, where he became one of the top defensive players in the USL Championship and helped the team qualify for the playoffs in all but one season.
Lambert is the seventh member of Jamaica’s “Reggae Boyz” to suit up for RSL since 2005, joining club original Andy Williams, Ryan Johnson, Lovel Palmer, Khari Stephenson, Demar Phillips and Omar Holness. The club also drafted another Jamaican international, winger Matthew Bell, in the first round of the 2024 MLS SuperDraft out of Marshall.
Pierre will head to the Colorado Springs Switchbacks, who announced the move last Thursday, for the 2024 season. The 23-year-old center back/left back from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, returns to the club where he finished the 2023 season, making six appearances after scoring one goal in 1,211 minutes for Real Monarchs in MLS NEXT Pro.
"I am excited to be with the Colorado Switchbacks again. The fans and atmosphere are unforgettable," Pierre said. "The team and staff have been more than welcoming. I aim to help the team for a successful season. Let's go Switchbacks!"
A youth international with Haiti, Pierre joined the RSL Academy in 2018 before signing with the University of Portland, where the brother of Real Monarchs teammate Kurowskybob Pierre totaled four goals and two assists in 48 matches with the Pilots.
He also played for RSL in last year’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, helping the team earn wins over Las Vegas Lights FC and Portland Timbers FC.
