Salt City College Soccer Player of the Week: Allie Fryer, FW, BYU
Every week of the 2024 season, Salt City FC will recognize a top Division I women's soccer player from Utah for excellence on the field.
Allie Fryer scored her first goal in nearly a month in BYU women’s soccer’s 4-1 loss at TCU last week.
Then a few nights later, she doubled her output — in a win.
The junior forward from Spanish Fork scored three goals in two games, including a brace with her head to help lead the Cougars to a 2-1 win over rival Utah for a 2-1 start to Big 12 play.
For her efforts, Fryer was named the College Soccer Player of the Week ahead of the final week of September.
Against the Utes, the 5-foot-10 forward stayed central and made Utah’s defense pay in scoring two goals with her head — one off a corner kick by true freshman Lucy Kesler in the 57th minute, followed by the match-winner on a glancing header after Emma Hamberlin found her with a pin-perfect, left-footed cross near the penalty spot.
Fryer has five goals and an assist in eight matches of her junior season, good for a team-high 11 points.
The Cougars (4-4-2, 2-1 Big 12) continue their Big 12 homestand Thursday against Oklahoma State (7 p.m. MT, ESPN+).
