#SupportLocalSoccer ... and local soccer creators: Tyler Staten, photographer
Supporting local soccer also means supporting the local community. And today, that includes supporting one of our local soccer creators.
Here in the Salt City FC newsletter, we try to highlight Utah soccer as much as we can, because we believe in one of our core tenants to #SupportLocalSoccer.
But supporting local soccer also means supporting the local community. And today, that includes supporting one of our local soccer creators.
We ran into one of our local creators last night, when we went to the USL League Two match between Utah United and Salt City SC at Utah Valley University’s Clyde Field.
Utah United won that match, 1-0 on a clean second-half header by UMBC defender and captain Lasse Kelp, who is with United for the summer. You can see our interview with Kelp, as well as head coach Mark Davis about United’s first home win of the year, on Instagram here.
But Tyler Staten was also there, photographing the match and making art of the Beautiful Game like he has at all levels across the grassroots community for years.
Staten works out of American Fork, and he’s been shooting sports — with a keen eye for soccer, in particular — across the Wasatch Front since 2020. He’s photographed high school, club and college soccer primarily in Salt Lake and Utah counties, including his native American Fork High’s run to its first state title in 40 years and BYU women’s soccer during their magical season that ended in a second NCAA College Cup appearance in four years this past fall.
You can see Staten’s photos from Utah United’s win win over Salt City SC in his gallery here and here. Here’s graciously opened them up to the public, as well. But if you can afford it, and you want to #SupportLocalSoccer creators, leave him a couple bucks in his tip jar @tylerstaten on Venmo.
You can also see his rates and services if you need photo work here.
