The starting goalkeeper for Utah Royals FC has been called in to U.S. women’s national team training cap as an injury replacement for Jane Campbell, the teams announced Friday morning.
It will be the first crack at the senior national team for Haught, 25, after representing the United States on both the U-18 and U-20 level.
"It's a huge honor to receive my first senior national team call up,” Haught said. "Representing the United States is a dream come true for me and I can't wait to get started with Emma Hayes, the rest of the staff and the players. I'm really looking forward to this opportunity."
Haught joins the United States midway through the October FIFA window as the team prepares to face Iceland again on Sunday, Oct. 27 in Nashville at GEODIS Park (3:30 p.m. MDT, TNT).
A graduate of Virginia Tech, Haught was first signed to the NWSL as the No. 20 overall pick by then-Sky Blue FC out of the 2020 NWSL College Draft. After signing a one-year deal and playing in the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup, she headed to Piteå IF in the Swedish Damallsvenskan, where she totaled nine shutouts in 26 appearances.
After returning to the United States to get married, Haught (née McGlynn) signed a two-year deal with her initial club, by then renamed NJ/NY Gotham FC, en route to an NWSL championship in 2023 before being traded to expansion Utah in December of last year.
In Year 1 with the Royals, Haught has played 2,070 minutes across 23 matches with 78 saves and five shutouts on the season for Utah, which can secure 10th place — and potentially a tie for ninth, depending on other results — with a win over Gotham in next Friday’s season finale (7:30 p.m. MDT, NWSL+).
Haught is one of five players called into various national team camps for the most recent international break, joining forward Mina Tanaka (Japan), midfielder Dana Foederer (Netherlands U-23), midfielder Ana Tejada (Spain) and forward Cloé Lacasse — who was initially called up by Canada prior to the Royals’ Oct. 20 match against Angel City FC.
