Utah Royals' new 'Great Salt Lake' kit includes $10K donation to save state's iconic feature
The Royals unveiled the new secondary kit Thursday with the rest of the NWSL, along with a $10,000 donation to the Great Salt Lake Watershed Enhancement Trust.

Utah Royals FC have a new kit for the 2025 NWSL season, but it comes with a cause.
The Royals unveiled the new “Great Salt Lake” blue secondary uniform Thursday along with the rest of the league and Nike, with a design that draws inspiration from the blue ripples of the largest saline lake in the western hemisphere (and eighth largest in the world).
The kits are available for purchase immediately at the URFC / RSL Team Store located at America First Field in Sandy, Utah.
The design of the shirt draws inspiration the state’s iconic lake and landscapes that helped shape life and geography across the western United States.
But it’s not just a gorgeous design; the kit also aims to help stabilize a shrinking lakebed that many environmentalists have warned could lead to disaster in Utah’s fashion, if not contained.
With that in mind, URFC and its front-of-jersey sponsor America First Credit Union are making a $10,000 donation to the Great Salt Lake Watershed Enhancement Trust, which reaffirms commitment to environmental stability and community resilience in the region.
Born out of necessity following historic declines in Great Salt Lake water levels in 2022, the trust was passed as part of Utah House Bill 410 that secured $40 million to fund initiatives enhancing water quantity and quality in the Great Salt Lake and its surrounding wetlands.
The trust’s current five-year strategy includes the following goals:
Stabilize wetlands and building resilience
Expand habitat and recreational access
Collaborate with state and federal agencies, local governments, agricultural producers and conservation groups to foster a unified approach toward water management
Adapt clear, quantifiable targets to guide ongoing conservation efforts and slow the decline of the iconic ecosystem.
Like sister club Real Salt Lake’s “Beehive,” “Peak Utah” and “Grid City” kits before it, the Royals’ “Great Salt Lake” kit was inspired by the community of the state it represents, and now aims to guide awareness toward saving one of those communities iconic features.
“Our organization is incredibly honored to represent the wonderful state of Utah.” said club vice president of marketing Tyler Gibbons in a news release. “For us to be able to shine a spotlight on the iconic Great Salt Lake with the donation from America First Credit Union & the kit design defines what our club is all about. Community first.”
