DENVER (May 31, 2025) — Utah United’s inaugural campaign in the USL W League continued unbeaten Saturday.
Devi Dudley had a goal and an assist, and Lilliah Blum scored for the third time in two matches as Utah United jumped out to a 4-0 advantage en route to a 4-1 win over last year’s USL W League finalists Colorado Storm at Regis University.
Blum added to the brace she secured two days ago in an 8-0 win over CISA, Seven Castain added a goal for the fourth consecutive outing, and Afton Perry opened her account for Utah (4-0, 12 points) to surge to the top of the table with the expansion side’s third match in five days.
Perry, a freshman at BYU, opened the scoring in the seventh minute, finishing a corner kick from Dudley to put United up early.
Blum doubled the advantage in the 21st minute, finishing inside the post from Dudley to score her third goal in two matches.
Castain, the All-Big 12 striker at TCU, continued her torrid goal-scoring pace, finishing a cross from teammate and BYU’s Walbruch in the 36th minute to help Utah to a 3-0 halftime advantage.
Dudley, the American Fork native who transferred to Utah last year after three seasons at Clemson, made it 4-0 shortly after halftime, collecting a loose ball after UConn transfer Kaitlyn Richins had a long shot saved before the goalkeeper spilled the rebound and Dudley pounced.
Makenna Dominguez pulled one back in the 55th minute for Colorado (1-1, 3 points), which lost to NC Courage U23 3-2 in last year’s USL W League final.
It was the first goal United has conceded in 2025.
Quotable: Utah United head coach Scott Halasz
“Today’s game presented a much different challenge for the team to solve. There were stretches when we didn’t have the ball. As a team, we had to become comfortable without the ball in order to be composed once we regained possession. It took us a while to adjust but once we did I feel we managed the game well.
”Finishing up this stretch of four games in nine days with 12 points was a great accomplishment for the group. I look forward to seeing what this group can accomplish over the next month.”
Player(s) of the Match
Lilliah Blum: The winger from Verona, Wisconsin, who has started all but one match in two years at the University of Utah found the back of the net for the third time in two games, including what amounted to the game-winning goal in the 21st minute against the Storm.
