Utah Valley has a new look, new crest, new stadium ahead of final WAC season
The Wolverines unveiled a new soccer-specific brand identity Saturday, dropping a new crest that includes several historic nods to the former Utah Technical College.
OREM, Utah (July 5, 2025) — Former RSL legend Kyle Beckerman’s fifth season at the helm of Utah Valley University will have a different look to it.
The Wolverines unveiled a new soccer-specific brand identity Saturday, dropping a new crest that includes several historic nods to the former Utah Technical College.
The only NCAA Division I men’s soccer program on the Wasatch Front — and one of just two in the state — will open a home-heavy 2025 season with the brand-new, $30 million UCCU Stadium on the site of the program’s home pitch at Clyde Field in Orem.
The Wolverines will play 15 regular-season games in 2025, including nine at home at another at America First field in Sandy — a doubleheader Aug. 24 against Gonzaga when Real Monarchs also host Minnesota United FC 2.
The team will open the UCCU Stadium era Aug. 21 against former WAC rival California State Bakersfield, which now plays in the Big West — where UVU is headed before the 2026 season.
Utah Valley will also host Florida Gulf Coast, Sacramento State, UC Davis and Santa Clara along with road trips to Omaha and UC San Diego before opening their its final round-robin season in the Western Athletic Conference beginning Oct. 4 at Grand Canyon.
But in the second year of the university’s apparel partnership with Nike, the Wolverines also unveiled a new brand identity centered around the “Heraldic Wolverine” on Saturday afternoon.
The crest, which draws inspiration from a number of European soccer clubs, includes the “Utah Valley” wordmark with 1941 — the year of the university’s founding — directly underneath.
Here are a few notes on the new logo:
UVU was established in 1941 as a vocational school with the primary function of providing war-time production and training.
Utah Valley officially changed its name from Utah Valley State College (UVSC) to Utah Valley University (UVU) on July 1, 2008.
The Wolverine has a reputation of ferocity and strength not directly correlated to its size, with a documented ability to dominate prey several times larger than itself.
Heraldic art, or heraldry, is the tradition of designing, displaying, and interpreting coats of arms and other armorial symbols. It blends art, history, and symbolism to represent individuals, families, and institutions. UVU’s crest features the Heraldic Wolverine, which links Utah Valley’s heritage to Europe and the sport of soccer’s birthplace.
